Cam Scott is getting closer to making his college decision.

The Lexington High guard and top prospect in South Carolina for the 2024 class will announce his college choice at 2 p.m. Aug. 11. The announcement will take place at Lexington High School.

Scott’s final programs under consideration are Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi, Oregon, South Carolina and Texas.

South Carolina is squarely in the mix for Scott as Lamont Paris tries to get the state’s top prospect for the second time since he arrived at USC. The Gamecocks landed GG Jackson, who reclassified and was part of the Gamecocks’ 2022 class. Jackson played one season and was selected by Memphis in the 2023 NBA Draft. Scott attended Jackson’s draft party back in June.

“They are the backyard team and they are right there,” Scott said of the Gamecocks in June. “It is easily accessible to me and my family. ... It’s one of those things where you have to appreciate the little things they do for you.”

Scott has taken visits to South Carolina, Oregon, Texas and Auburn.

The 247Sports Composite ranks the 6-foot-5 Scott as the No. 24 player in the Class of 2024. ESPN has him ranked No. 38 overall.

Scott averaged 19.2 points, 6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.4 steals per game in helping the Wildcats to a the Class 5A Upper State championship. He was South Carolina’s Gatorade Player of the Year and was co-MVP of the Pangos All-American Camp in Las Vegas this summer where he averaged 24.6 points per game and hit 56.6% of his 3-point attempts.

Scott also was invited to Jayson Tatum’s Elite Camp for high school players. Tatum is an all-star for the Boston Celtics.
