Hammond’s Seventh Woods sets time, day for decision
Hammond senior guard Seventh Woods has set a time and date for announcing his college choice.
Woods will make his choice known at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, the first day of the fall early signing period, in a ceremony at the high school. The event is open to the media but closed to the public.
Woods is ranked as the No. 1 player in South Carolina for the Class 2016 by various recruiting services and has narrowed his college choices to Georgetown, North Carolina and South Carolina, with UNC and USC appearing to be the front-runners. He made official visits to all three schools and also was at UNC’s Late Night with Roy Williams on Oct. 23.
Woods, ranked 34th nationally by Scout, 55th by ESPN and 56th by 247Sports, played in the Under Armour Elite Top 24 in Brooklyn, N.Y., back in August.
The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Woods averaged 16.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.6 steals in helping the Skyhawks to the SCISA 3A state championship.
Woods’ teammate, Chavez Goodwin, also will take part in the ceremony. Goodwin committed to College of Charleston over the summer.
