Josh Caldwell got his college decision out of the way before he begins senior year in a few weeks.

The Heathwood Hall point guard verbally committed to Army on Tuesday. Caldwell visited the West Point campus June 18-19. Army was his only offer but he had interest from several Division I schools.

Caldwell, 5-foot-10, said his father and grandfather served in the military and that was a factor in the decision as well as positioning his life after his playing career is over.

"They called me just about every day and were at most of my AAU games," Caldwell said. "And the life after basketball is just amazing. It is also one of the top universities in the world."

Caldwell averaged 16.8 points, six rebounds, three assists and 2.6 steals a game last season.
