The game times for some of the Lexington County School District One’s home football games Friday night might be pushed back because of the heat, according to a school district spokesperson.

The Gilbert vs. Gray Collegiate, Pelion vs. Calhoun County and Lexington vs. West Florence games are scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start, but could be pushed back.

The River Bluff vs. Chapin game already is scheduled to start at 8 p.m.

Athletic trainers will meet with the game officials to discuss the heat situation, and decide whether they will postpone the game start time in order to ensure students’ safety, the district said in a release.

The trainers will use the WetBulb Globe Temperature to check the conditions related to temperature, humidity, wind speed, sun angle and cloud cover (solar radiation).

The heat index will factor heavily into their decisions.

In an away game, White Knoll High plays Aiken at Aiken at 7:30 p.m.
