Hammond football adds another former Gamecock to coaching staff
Another former South Carolina Gamecock is joining the Hammond football staff.
Former offensive lineman Garrett Anderson will be part of the Skyhawks’ coaching staff, coach Erik Kimrey announced Friday. Anderson will help out with Hammond’s offensive line.
Anderson was a standout at Dutch Fork High School where he played for Erik Kimrey’s father, Bill, and was a Shrine Bowl selection.
“I have known Garrett since he was a kid and he had a great career at South Carolina,” Hammond coach Erik Kimrey said. “He is a very intelligent guy and will help with the offensive line.”
Anderson played at South Carolina from 2006-09 and started every game in his final two years for the Gamecocks. He played both guard and center with the Gamecocks.
Anderson will be the seventh former Gamecock player on Hammond’s staff, joining Kimrey, his father Bill (baseball), Braylyn Bennett, Ken Watson, Jay Frye, and Jeff Barnes.
The Skyhawks have won the past three SCISA Class 3A championships. Hammond opens up its season next Friday at Ben Lippen.
