Heathwood Hall receiver is Midlands high school football player of week
The seventh week of the 2021 high school football season is in the books in South Carolina.
Heathwood Hall receiver William Morris was voted our Midlands football Player of the Week for games played last weekend. Congrats to William and all of the nominees. Thanks to everyone who voted this week.
The nominees are listed below:
▪ Antonio Williams, WR, Dutch Fork: In the 69-21 win over Chapin, Williams had 358 all-purpose yards, including two kickoff returns for touchdowns.
▪ Caleb Ford, RB, Gray Collegiate: In a 50-0 win over Columbia, Ford carried it nine times for 130 yards and two touchdowns.
▪ Devin Martin, DB, Spring Valley: In 30-27 win over Ridge View, Martin had 11 tackles, three pass break-ups, tackle for loss and 55-yard fumble recovery.
▪ Grayson White, QB, Camden: In the 40-20 win over Marlboro County, White carried it 11 times for 73 yards and three touchdowns. He also was 10-of-16 passing for 84 yards.
▪ Izayah Whiteside, QB, Irmo: In a 48-0 win over Dreher, Whiteside was 14-of-21 passing for 381 yards, five touchdowns and also rushed two times for 21 yards.
▪ Jeremy Barney, RB, Lower Richland: In 35-0 win over Mid-Carolina, Barney carried it 13 times for 190 yards and two touchdowns.
▪ Markel Townsend, RB, AC Flora: In a 39-3 win over Richland Northeast, Townsend ran it 11 times for 128 yards, two touchdowns and also caught an 18-yard TD pass.
▪ Montrevious Baker, RB, Saluda: In a 46-26 win over Newberry, Baker carried it 20 times for 152 yards and two touchdowns.
▪ Noah Jennings, WR, Westwood: In 40-28 win over Lugoff-Elgin Jennings caught seven passes for 203 yards and a touchdown.
▪ Rucker Brannon, LB, Hammond: In a 48-0 win over First Baptist, Brannon had 10 tackles, three for loss, a pass break-up and returned a fumble for a touchdown.
▪ William Morris, WR, Heathwood Hall: In the 21-14 win over Florence Christian, Morris had two catches for 91 yards, including the game-winner with 13 seconds left.
