Pelion linebacker is Midlands high school football player of week
Pelion linebacker Michael Fields was voted our Midlands football Player of the Week for games played last weekend. Congrats to Michael and all of the nominees.
Dobson Ricks, QB Ben Lippen: In 56-40 loss to Augusta Christian, Ricks was 28-of-46 passing for 331 yards and four touchdowns.
Isom Harris, QB, CA Johnson: In a 38-18 win over McBee, Harris was 7-of-13 passing for 244 yards and three touchdowns as the Green Hornets wrapped up No. 2 seed in Region 2-A.
Jahmari Kennerly, WR, Brookland-Cayce: In a 37-6 win over Orangeburg-Wilkinson, Kennerly had four catches for 78 yards, two touchdowns and also had a TD run as the Bearcats won the Region 5-3A championship.
Jaquez Frederick, RB, White Knoll: In the 28-21 win over River Bluff, Frederick carried it 27 times for 190 yards and two touchdowns as the Timberwolves clinched a playoff spot.
Keshawn Gladden, RB, Lexington: In a 23-17 win over Chapin, Gladden carried it 22 times for 138 yards and the game-winning touchdown in overtime as the Wildcats clinched the No. 2 seed from Region 5-5A.
KZ Adams, RB, Gray Collegiate: In the 56-29 win over Newberry, Adams ran it 32 times for 316 yards and six touchdowns as the War Eagles won the Region 3-2A championship.
Michael Fields, LB, Pelion: In a 31-28 win over Edisto, Fields had 15 tackles (8 solo), four tackles for loss, a forced fumble and fumble recovery as the Panthers clinched the No. 3 spot in Region 5-2A.
Nick Emmanwori, LB, Irmo: In the 17-10 win over Lugoff-Elgin, Emmanwori had 20 tackles, three for loss, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery as the Yellow Jackets earned a share of the Region 4-4A championship.
Randall McDaniel, RB, Columbia: In a 26-14 win over Eau Claire, McDaniel ran for 102 yards, two touchdowns and had a 75-yard kickoff return for touchdown as the Capitals clinched a playoff berth.
