Lugoff-Elgin RB named The State’s Midlands high school football player of the week

Congratulations to Lugoff-Elgin running back Sky Harter for winning the vote for this week’s State’s Midlands Player of the Week honors.

The nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun.

Carew Bates, QB, AC Flora: Senior was 11-of-12 passing for 196 yards, four touchdowns and also ran for 57 yards and a TD in a win over Brookland-Cayce.

Sky Harter, RB, Lugoff-Elgin: Senior ran for 126 yards, caught 3 passes for 15 yards in win over Airport.

Cooper Johns, RB, River Bluff: Senior ran for 207 yards, two touchdowns and also caught two passes for 29 yards in win over South Aiken.

Nick Johnson, DL, Heathwood Hall: Senior had 12 solo tackles, one for loss and a fumble recovery in win over Porter-Gaud.

Marcus Kelly, RB, Ridge View: Senior carried it 15 times for 144 yards and four touchdowns, all in the first half, in win over Spring Valley.

Jonah Norris, RB, Lexington: Senior rushed for 337 yards and two touchdowns in win over Blythewood.

Hernandez O’Neal, QB, Keenan: Senior was 13-of-18 passing for 275 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 105 yards and two TDs in a win over North Central.

Justin Pauling, DB, Gray Collegiate: Junior picked off three passes, returned one for 75-yard touchdowns, in win over Camden.

Chandler Perry, LB, Dutch Fork: Senior had three tackles, returned an interception for a touchdown and also returned kickoff for touchdown in win over Stratford.

Dylan Richardson, QB, Hammond: Senior was 9-of-17 passing for 121 yards, two touchdowns and ran for 53 yards, a TD, in win over Laurence Manning.

Landon Sharpe, QB, White Knoll: Sophomore was 15-of-18 passing for 213 yards five touchdowns and also ran for a TD in a win over Westwood.

Duncan Skehan, QB, Cardinal Newman: Junior was 7-of-9 passing for 220 yards, four touchdowns in win over Northwood Academy.
