CA Johnson athlete named The State’s Midlands high school football player of the week

Congratulations to CA Johnson’s Caleb Pearson for winning the vote for this week’s State’s Midlands Player of the Week honors.

A new poll will be released on Monday.

The nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun.

Jared Acosta, LB, Newberry: Acosta had 14 tackles, one for loss in loss to Keenan.

Rucker Brannon, LB, Hammond: The senior intercepted three passes, returned two for touchdowns in the win over Camden Military.

Zion Clarke, RB/LB, Columbia: Junior rushed for 79 yards, a touchdown and had 12 tackles in win over Eau Claire.

David Copley, DE, Camden: Senior had five tackles, two sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and three quarterback pressures in win over Lake City.

Bryce Craft, RB, Ben Lippen: Senior carried it 21 times for 167 yards and three touchdowns in win over Cardinal Newman.

Devin Johnson, ATH, Gray Collegiate: Senior had 123 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns in win over Mid-Carolina.

Jamarcus Mobley, WR, Saluda: Senior caught seven passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Gilbert.

Caleb Pearson, QB, CA Johnson: Junior carried it seven times for 140 yards, three touchdowns and also threw a TD pass in win over Hemingway.

Markel Townsend, RB, AC Flora: Senior rushed for 215 yards, two touchdowns and caught three passes for 30 yards in win over Chapin.

Erick Tucker, RB, Irmo: Senior carried it 20 times for 138 yards, caught eight passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns in win over Airport.
