Jarvis Green won’t be waiting long to make his college decision.

The Dutch Fork High School running back told The State on Sunday night that he will be announcing his choice on social media sometime on Tuesday. Rivals was the first to report that he would announce on Tuesday.

The Dutch Fork High School running back committed to James Madison in August but announced Friday that he was opening up his recruitment. He picked up a pair of ACC offers from Clemson and Virginia Tech earlier last week.

His final decision will come down to the Tigers and Hokies.

Green won’t enroll at college midyear because of his class schedule at Dutch Fork, but he will sign with a school on Dec. 21, the early signing day for football.

“I probably will announce before that and then sign,” Green said Saturday. “I’ve still got to run through my options with my parents and figure out where I want to go.”

Green was in Myrtle Beach on Saturday for the Mr. Football award presentation, which was held during halftime of the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl. He arrived in Spartanburg on Sunday to begin practice for the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas, which will be held Dec. 17 at Spartanburg High School.

“It is just a roller coaster of emotions for me,” Green said. I just want to take it day by day and talk with my parents to figure out where I want to go the next three or four years.”

He had talked about wanting to get an offer from Clemson for months and finally got it Thursday when Dabo Swinney called him with the news.

“I never doubted it and always knew I was talented for it. I just had to keep my faith in God,” Green said of the Clemson offer. “Just the brotherhood and family-type bond of Clemson is what I like the most. Dabo Swinney always preaches the brotherhood and family-type atmosphere.”

Dutch Fork coach Tom Knotts had lobbied for weeks for in-state schools Clemson and South Carolina to offer his tailback, who was a finalist for for South Carolina’s Mr. Football.

“I don’t know why Dabo (Swinney) and (Shane) Beamer aren’t knocking the door down,” Knotts said after the playoff win over Dorman on Nov. 12. “He might be happy where he is going, but it doesn’t make any sense to me. It looks to me like another Jalin Hyatt scenario.”

Hyatt, a former Dutch Fork standout receiver, never was offered by Clemson or South Carolina and went to play with the Tennessee Volunteers. He won the Blitenkoff Award this season as the nation’s top receiver.

Virginia Tech also has been in the mix and offered Green shortly after Clemson. A Virginia Tech coach watched him play at the Class 5A championship game on Dec. 3. Green had 290 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns in the 47-10 over Fort Dorchester.

247Sports Composite ranks Green as a three-star prospect and No. 23 overall in South Carolina for Class of 2023. He leaves Dutch Fork as one of the top players in school history.

Green finished his career with 4,608 yards and 78 rushing touchdowns, both second all-time behind 2014 Mr. Football Matt Colburn, who had a standout career at Wake Forest and played last year in the USFL.
