Some high school football games will have later start times this week in South Carolina because of extreme heat in the forecast for Friday.

Several games have been moved from 7:30 to 8 p.m. More are expected to change and three games have been moved to Thursday night.

Many other games around the state also have been moved.

The Keenan-Orangeburg Wilkinson game has been canceled because of COVID issue with the Keenan team.

According to National Weather Service’s forecast, the high on Friday is set for 100 degrees with a heat index of 105 degrees. Those readings are forecast to be closer to 92 and 97 around 7 p.m., according to the Weather Service, then 89 and 92 at 8 p.m. The heat index at 9 p.m. will still be around 90.
