Irmo quarterback voted The State’s Midlands high school football Player of Week
The votes have been tabulated and Irmo quarterback AJ Brand is the winner in The State’s Midlands high school football Player of the Week for Aug. 24-25.

Brady Albro, QB, Chapin: Junior was 12-of-13 passing for 220 yards and 5 touchdowns in just a half of action in the 63-0 win over Mid-Carolina.
Keivonte Bates, RB/DB, CA Johnson: Junior carried it 14 times for 211 yards and three touchdowns, and also had eight tackles and an interception in the 30-26 loss to Trinity Collegiate.
AJ Brand, QB, Irmo: Junior was 19-of-26 passing for 263 yards and 6 TDs, and also carried it 3 times for 100 yards and a TD in the 56-18 win over Lancaster.
TyDarion Grier, WR, Fairfield Central: Junior caught 6 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown, and also carried it 11 times for 135 yards and a TD in the 33-16 win over Andrew Jackson.
Jaylen Jay, RB, Gilbert: Junior carried it 27 times for 243 yards and two touchdowns in the 35-7 win over Batesburg-Leesville.
Manny Johnson, RB, Hammond: Junior carried it 14 times for 144 yards and caught a pass for 10 yards in a 47-0 win over Florence Christian.
Torie Jones, RB, Lexington: Junior carried it 16 times for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 59-27 win over South Aiken.
Jamarious Lockett, WR, Gray Collegiate: Senior had 8 catches for 247 yards and 4 TDs in the 62-60 win over Crestwood.
Parker Murray, QB, River Bluff: Junior was 10-of-13 passing for 148 yards and 4 TDs in the 56-7 win over Swansea.
Lamarion Pearson, RB, Lower Richland: Senior carried it 12 times for 158 yards and a TD, and had the game-winning 46-yard TD catch with 27 seconds left in the 24-18 win over Westwood.
Duncan Skehan, QB, Cardinal Newman: Senior was 10-of-14 for 282 yards and 2 TDs, and also rushed for a score in the 55-7 win over Pee Dee Academy.
Roper Wentzky, QB AC Flora: Sophomore was 16-of-23 passing for 237 yards and 4 TDs in the 60-13 win over Dreher.
