Which high school football teams ended the season in the Carolinas’ Top 25 poll?

Providence Day is No. 1 in the final Carolinas Top 25 poll of the season.

The Chargers finished 12-1 and won the North Carolina Independent Schools’ Division I state championship. Providence Day is ranked No. 65 in the High School Football America national poll, the highest of any team in the Carolinas, and the Chargers have been as ranked as high as No. 19 in the various national polls.

Rabun Gap (GA), the team Providence Day beat to win the state title, is ranked No. 66 in the High School Football America poll. Rabun Gap plays in the N.C. private school leagues.

This season, McClatchy Newspapers in the Carolinas started the top 25 ranking to identify the best teams in North and South Carolina, ranking them in one poll. The final ranking includes 14 North Carolina teams and 11 from South Carolina.

The Carolinas Top 25 is compiled by longtime high school football analyst Chris Hughes with input from high school football writers in North and South Carolina in McClatchy newspapers.
