Florence defensive end has Clemson and USC in top five

Four-star recruit Xavier Thomas has Clemson and South Carolina in his top five he posted on Twitter on Wednesday.

Thomas, a rising sophomore at Wilson High School in Florence, South Carolina, has Florida State at No. 1 followed by Clemson, USC, Tennessee and Georgia. The Gamecocks offered Thomas over the weekend and he already had offers from the other four schools.

The 6-foot-3, 242-pound defensive end attended camps at FSU, Clemson, USC and Tennessee this summer. He was named the No. 3 prospect in the Class of 2018 by 247Sports on Wednesday.

As a freshman, Thomas had 59 tackles and eight sacks and was named to the MaxPreps Freshman All-America team.
