Top 10 high school football teams in the Midlands as voted by a panel at The State. Last year’s record in parenthesis:

1. DUTCH FORK (12-3)

Three straight trips to state title game lands coach Tom Knotts’ Silver Foxes at top.

2. WESTWOOD (11-2)

Big offensive line led by Torrey Boone and powerful running game recipe for strong season.

3. LEXINGTON (7-6)

Wildcats boast one of most explosive offenses, led by running back Slade Carroll.

4 (tie) CHAPIN (7-4)

Logan Bailey and Will Register combo will be tough for opposing defenses to stuff.

BLYTHEWOOD (5-7)

With 15 starters back, including QB David Isreal, Bengals poised for big year.

6. A.C. FLORA (12-2)

Falcons coming off trip to 3A upper state title game and feature QB Brendan Green.

7. NEWBERRY (11-3)

Bulldogs will be fun to watch with Yafari Werts under center.

8. BATESBURG- LEESVILLE (9-3)

B-L hopes to ride legs of running back Terrence Wilson for big season.

9. WHITE KNOLL (8-4)

Coach Dean Howell has 13 starters back after winning region title a year ago.

10. FAIRFIELD CENTRAL (11-2)

Coach Demetrius Davis’s Griffins will be in mix for 2A upper state championship.
