Dutch Fork standout Stephen Davis Jr. de-commits from Auburn
Dutch Fork senior Stephen Davis Jr. announced Sunday he has de-committed from Auburn.
Davis, the third-ranked prospect in the state according to 247Sports, made a verbal commit to Auburn in August, 2014.
“After thinking a lot, I have just decided to open my recruitment back up and de-commit from Auburn,” Davis Jr. tweeted.
Davis told The State last month he was only 70 percent committed to Auburn but was planning to attend the Auburn-Alabama game. It's unclear if he still plans to visit Auburn.
The 6-foot-4, 207-pound defender told AuburnUndercover he's considering Florida State, Georgia, Clemson and South Carolina. Davis said last month he was planning on attending the FSU-Miami game.
Davis missed the preseason after having wrist surgery in July but hasn’t missed a regular season game. Davis primarily plays safety on defense, but has had looks on offense this season. He had five catches for 100 yards and a touchdown two weeks ago against Goose Creek.
On defense, Davis has 13 tackles. Dutch Fork (0-2) will play at Boiling Springs on Friday.
