Midlands roundup: Ridge View rallies past Irmo

At Ridge View, Shemar Hinson’s 1-yard run with less than a minute left helped Ridge View to a 47-41 come-from behind win over Irmo on Friday night.

Ridge View trailed 27-7 in the second half and was down 41-34 late in the fourth quarter. But the Blazers tied it on a Hinson run with less than two minutes and got a big pass play to set up the game-winning score with 32 seconds left. Hinson finished with three touchdowns and Jaylen Nelson, one of three QBs to play for Ridge View, had two scores.

Nelson threw for 242 yards and RV gained 518 yards of offense.

Mason Smith threw for two touchdowns and James Tharp rushed for two scores for Irmo.

Hammond 26, Cardinal Newman 7

At Cardinal Newman, Graham Smith threw for 199 yards, rushed for 81 and scored two touchdowns as Hammond went to 3-0 on the season.

Malik Bennett had seven catches for 70 yards and rushed for 50 for the Skyhawks. Sean Hutchinson kicked three field goals.

CN’s lone score came on Cam Tringali’s 11-yard pass to Jackson Gossett.

White Knoll 41, Clover 13

At Lexington, Calev Grubbs threw for 103 yards, rushed for 99 and three touchdowns in White Knoll’s victory.

Maurice Jones added a 124 yards on the ground, and Daniel Fulmer kicked a pair of field goals for the Timberwolves.

River Bluff 35, Fort Mill 14

At Lexington, Brandon Tillmon and Davon Johnson each rushed for two touchdowns as three River Bluff players rushed for more than 100 yards in the game.

Tillmon finished with 140 yards on the ground and was followed by Tijuan Glenn with 119 and Johnson with 103. As a team, the Gators rushed for 388 and didn’t complete pass in the game.

A.C. Flora 42, Columbia 0

At Memorial Stadium, Brendan Greene threw for 126 yards and two touchdowns, and Clarence Watson rushed for two scores for A.C. Flora.

A.C. Flora outgained Columbia 314-79 in the game.

Spring Valley 15, Richland Northeast 14

At Spring Valley, Ryan Lee’s touchdown pass to Ty’Juan Fulton in the fourth quarter was the difference as Spring Valley improved to 3-0.

Spring Valley trailed 14-3 at the halftime but scored twice in the second half. Richland Northeast had a chance to take the lead but missed a field goal with 4:30 and Spring Valley ran out the clock.

Kadarius Bunch led Spring Valley with 78 yards rushing. Lee added 75 and threw for 59. Spring Valley rushed for a total of 235 yards.

Batesburg-Leesville 31, Mid-Carolina 14

At Batesburg-Leesville, Terrence Wilson rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns and also returned a kickoff 82 yards for a score.

Mike Smith was 7-for-10 passing for 96 yards and a TD and also ran for a score.

Aiken 35, Dreher 20

At Aiken, Bryson Jones threw for two touchdowns and ran for two scores as Aiken handed Dreher its second straight loss. Aiken’s Matthew Coverson-Springs picked off two passes.

Dreher quarterback Avery Armstrong threw for 230 yards and a score for the Blue Devils.

Calhoun County 29, Gray Collegiate 8

At St. Matthews, Calhoun improved to 3-0 as Terrence Brunson rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns.

GCA was led by Bryce Fields who completed 23 of 34 passes for 230 yards and two interceptions. Chylon Thomas led the War Eagles with seven catches for 109 yards. Duncan Rivers scored Gray's lone touchdown on a 2-yard run in the first quarter.

Saluda 31, Gilbert 21

At Saluda, Forrest Winn threw for 176 yards and three touchdowns, and Malik Brooks rushed for 165 yards and a TD.

Tyler Thomas was 17 of 36 for 126 yards and two touchdowns for Gilbert. Thomas’ 8-yard TD pass to Ray Baston got the Indians within 31-21 in the third quarter but neither team scored in the fourth.

Swansea 29, Ninety Six 22

At Ninety Six, Chance Walker scored three touchdowns, including the game-winner in the fourth quarter to give Swansea its first win.

Kendall Brooks sealed the win with a late interception. Quaevon Cannon rushed for 115 yards and a TD for Swansea.

Lugoff-Elgin 13, West Florence 3

At Lugoff, Bradwin Salmond was 12 of 18 for 169 yards and TD as Lugoff-Elgin snapped an 18-game losing streak with a win over West Florence.

Jermaine Jenkins had 6 carries for 52 yards and 3 catches for 54 yards including a 41-yard TD for the Demons.

C.A. Johnson 18, Pelion 0

At Pelion, Dontris Creech had a 70-yard fumble recover for a TD as C.A. Johnson blanked Pelion.

Makel Barnes had 17 tackles to lead CAJ.
