Roundup: Richland Northeast posts first win of 2015
At Columbia, TyQuandre Davis scored a pair of third-quarter touchdowns as Richland Northeast got its first win of the season with a 17-7 victory over Orangeburg-Wilkinson on Friday night.
Davis finished with 187 yards rushing in the game for RNE
After a scoreless first half, the Cavaliers scored twice in the third to open up a 14-0 lead.
White Knoll 24, Lugoff-Elgin 7
At Elgin, Calev Grubbs threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead White Knoll to a road win.
Grubbs completed 7 of 10 passes for 102 yards, while Maurice Jones rushed for 159 yards on 22 carries.
Bradwin Salmond connected with Hunter Campbell on an 11-yard touchdown pass for L-E.
Batesburg-Leesville 19, Gilbert 6
At Gilbert, Terrence Wilson moved into fifth on the school’s all-time rushing list as B-L improved to 5-0 on the season.
Wilson rushed 36 times for 234 yards and two TDs and also caught a 25-yard pass. He needs two more touchdowns to tie the school’s career touchdown record.
Tyler Thomas threw for 128 yards and a TD, and Malik Bright had six catches for 73 yards in the loss for Gilbert.
Hammond 36, Orangeburg Prep 6
At Orangeburg, Graham Smith threw three first-half touchdowns, and Jack Theodore had a 50-yard punt return as Hammond improved to 5-0.
The Skyhawks scored all of their points in the first half. Smith was 9-of-15 for 209 yards, and Lucas Prickett had three catches for 161 yards and a TD.
Swansea 40, Silver Bluff 35
At Pettycoat Junction, Chance Walker’s 9-yard run with 1:23 left in the fourth quarter gave Swansea the come-from-behind victory.
Swansea led 34-27 with 5:29 left but Devonte Hill scored on a 30-yard run and his two-point conversion gave Silver Bluff a 35-34 lead.
Swansea led 17-14 at halftime.
Walker had 268 total yards and four touchdowns, and Quaevon Cannon rushed for 185 for Swansea.
Pelion 40, North 6
At North, Dayrun Keith accounted for five touchdowns as the Panthers earned their first win of the season.
Keith rushed for 112 yards and four touchdowns on 12 carries, while also scoring on a 20-yard fumble return. Richard Kollie also had a strong night, rushing for 130 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries.
Calhoun County 43, Gray Collegiate 26
At Columbia, Calhoun County quarterback Terrance Brunson passed for four touchdowns and ran for two more in a win over Gray Collegiate Academy.
GCA was led by Bryce Fields who completed 16-of-23 passes for 290 yards and four touchdowns. Chylon Thomas led the GCA receivers with seven catches and 147 yards and three scores. Brandon Carroway added two catches for 80 yards and a touchdown.
