QB Tucker leads way for Airport
Josh Tucker continues to get more comfortable at quarterback.
The Airport signal caller, who took over after Brett Burnett was lost for the year because of injury, rushed for 169 yards, threw for 121 yards and accounted for three touchdowns in the 30-9 win over Aiken on Monday.
The win moves Airport to 7-0 on the season for the first time since 2011.
Tucker had a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns, including a 15-yarder, to put Airport up 23-9 with 7:18 left. That score came on the possession after Aiken cut the lead to 16-9 on a Bryson Jones’ touchdown run.
Kerryon Richardson then picked off Jones, and Tucker added a 27-yard run for the final score of the game.
TURNING POINT
After forcing a three-and-out on Aiken’s first drive of second half, Airport scored on its first play of the third quarter as Tucker hit a wide-open Richardson for a 38-yard TD to give the Eagles a 17-3 lead.
