ROUNDUP: Hammond continues roll with 20th win in a row
At Columbia, Malik Bennett rushed for three first-half touchdowns as Hammond won its school-record 20th straight game with a 41-0 win over Florence Christian on Friday.
Bennett rushed for 67 yards and also caught two passes for 58 yards. Graham Smith was 7-for-11 for 161 yards and a TD, and also rushed for a score. McKay Brabham added a 30-yard TD catch.
Chapin 57, Lower Richland 22
At Columbia, quarterback Logan Bailey rushed for 128 yards and three touchdowns as the Eagles improved to 7-0 on the season. Bailey also was 7 of 19 for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Evan Estridge had four catches for 101 yards and three touchdowns.
Joe Flowers also had two TDs for the Eagles.
Lower Richland played without Shrine Bowl selection Larry Collins, who missed the game because of injury.
Airport 35, Gilbert 0
At Gilbert, Josh Tucker threw for 172 yards, and rushed for 86 with two touchdowns as Airport moved to 8-0 for first time since 2009.
Running back Jonathan Earl led Airport (8-0, 3-0) on the ground with 133 yards rushing and two touchdowns. The Eagles outgained Gilbert 528-147.
Irmo 41, So. Aiken 14
At Columbia, Mason Smith rushed for three scores as the Yellow Jackets improved to 2-0 in Region 5-4A play. Jeffrey Tharpe and Ronnie Jamison also had touchdown runs for Irmo.
Richland Northeast 39, A.C. Flora 20
At Richland Northeast, Aloysius Jackson rushed for three touchdowns and the Cavaliers had 352 yards on the ground as a team. Barry Moorer and Tyquandre Davis also added TD runs.
A.C. Flora quarterback Brendan Greene threw for 305 yards and a TD for the Falcons, while Thomas Hollingsworth led ACF with seven catches for 112 yards and a TD.
White Knoll 24, North Augusta 7
At Lexington, quarterback Calev Grubbs had two TDs as the Timberwolves bounced back from their first region loss of the season. Gary Shell led White Knoll with 61 yards rushing.
Spring Valley 58, Lugoff-Elgin 21
At Lugoff, Ty’Juan Fulton had four touchdown runs as the Vikings snapped their three-game losing streak. Fulton finished with 152 yards rushing and quarterback Ryan Lee added 101 yards on the ground and a score. As a team, the Vikings amassed 493 yards of total offense.
Cameron Jones returned a punt and an interception for a touchdown for Spring Valley.
Eau Claire 35, Columbia 12
At Bolden Stadium, Jarquse Gunter rushed four touchdowns as the Shamrocks won their third game of the season. Corey Cohen had a TD catch, and the Eau Claire secondary picked off three passes.
Midland Valley 21, Brookland-Cayce 7
At Graniteville, Dre’Kwon Carr rushed for 125 yards and a score as Midland Valley improved to 3-0 in region play.
B-C quarterback Kozie Brown threw for 181 yards and a touchdown in the loss. The Bearcats were held to just 74 yards rushing.
Aiken 35, Swansea 16
At Aiken, Bryson Jones threw for 115 yards and two scores in Aiken’s win over Swansea. Running back Brayton Sanders rushed for 115 yards and had 78 yards receiving for the Hornets.
Effix Miller threw for 160 yards and Quaveon Cannon rushed for 138 in the loss.
Newberry 33, Mid-Carolina 7
At Newberry, Amir Abrams rushed for four touchdowns as the Bulldogs bounced back with a victory over Mid-Carolina.
Abrams finished with 71 yards and the Bulldogs finished with 212 yards on the ground.
