Airport’s Earl commits to Charleston Southern

Airport running back Jonathon Earl committed to Charleston Southern on Saturday.

Earl made his official visit to CSU this weekend. The 5-foot-11, 212-pound running back rushed for 755 yards, eight touchdowns and also caught seven passes for 35 yards and a score.

“The coaching staff was the difference. They are young, energetic and they really care for their players and want to develop them as young men,” Earl said. “The current players are down to earth and I fit in well with them. They are an up and coming program they will be next year in the preseason top 10. They ended last year ranked number seven. So big things are happening at CSU and I’m glad that I will be apart of it.”

Earl also considered Chattanooga and South Carolina State. The all-Region 5-3A selection is the third Midlands player to commit to CSU, joining Lexington’s Nick Graves and Fairfield Central’s Josh Bell.
