Dutch Fork’s Stephen Davis Jr. didn’t sign his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday on the first day of the signing period.

Davis has until April 1 to sign but his father, Stephen Davis Sr., indicated it might be sooner than that.

Davis is the No. 7 ranked prospect in South Carolina and a three-star recruit, according to 247Sports. He originally committed to Auburn, where his father played before going on to a successful NFL career.

But the 6-foot-4, 207-pound Davis decommitted from Auburn on Sept. 6. Still, Auburn looks like a possible landing spot, and he made his official visit there Jan. 15.

“It was a great vibe,” Davis Jr. told reporters after his Auburn visit. “When I got here, I connected real quick with them and that’s what I like. It's not just about football, it’s about more than football. It's big. Auburn is doing big things.”

South Carolina showed interest in Davis but he never made an official visit.

Davis suffered a season-ending ACL injury against Dorman in September. He was moved from defensive back to running back and rushed for 204 yards and six touchdowns against Boiling Springs the week before his injury.
