Swansea’s Chance Walker signs with Newberry
Swansea’s all-purpose threat Chance Walker signed to play football with Newberry Wednesday.
Walker moved to quarterback this year for Swansea after playing running back and receiver previously. He finished with 2,067 yards and 23 touchdowns despite missing some time with injuries. Walker was selected to play in the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives North-South football game.
For his career, Walker finished with more than 4,000 total yards and 62 touchdowns. He’ll play running back, receiver and return kicks for the Wolves.
“I picked Newberry because they are a great school to get your education from. They make sure they help everyone as much as possible to help you succeed,” Walker said. “And I really like the coaching staff because they take you in like your family, and they are really great people to be around. They have a nice, winning program that’s getting better every year, and a plus to that, they run the spread offense and I’m used to it.”
In addition to Walker, Lexington’s Bryce Holdman signed to play soccer at Newberry this week.
