Kannapolis scored five times in the fifth inning and held off a Columbia rally for an 8-5 win against the Fireflies on Thursday night at Spirit Communications Park.

Jacob Zanon put on a show in his return to the Fireflies. Because of an injury, Zanon hadn’t appeared in game since April 10. He tallied three hits – one of which a two-run home run – scored twice and drove in three.

Tim Tebow added a pair of doubles and scored two runs.

Fireflies’ pitchers struck out a franchise-best 17 batters in the loss. Starter Blake Taylor had eight of the strikeouts.

Sam Dexter and Zach Remillard each had two RBI to lead Kannapolis.
