Gilbert’s Mike Morrison earns promotion in minors

Mike Morrison’s all-star season earned him a promotion.

The former Gilbert standout was promoted to advanced-A Winston-Salem Dash. Morrison spent the first half of the season with Kannapolis Intimidators. The right-hander was second in the South Atlantic League with 10 saves and had a 1-0 with a 0.53 ERA in helping Kannapolis to first-half championship of the SAL Northern Division.

Morrison was a 27th round draft pick by the Chicago White Sox in the 2016 MLB Draft and was part of Coastal Carolina’s national title team. He earned All-American honors his final season with the Chanticleers and was 8-1 with 1.50 ERA.
