Winningham hits walk-off single in Fireflies victory
COLUMBIA, S.C. Dash Winningham hit a walk-off single as the Columbia Fireflies topped the Greensboro Grasshoppers 2-1 on Thursday at Spirit Communications Park.
Ian Strom scored the game-winning run after he reached base on an error.
The Fireflies tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the eighth when Vinny Siena scored on a passed ball.
Columbia starter Thomas McIlraith went seven innings, allowing one run and five hits. He also struck out five and walked one. Matt Blackham (4-1) got the win with two innings of scoreless, two-hit relief while Parker Bugg (2-2) took the loss in the South Atlantic League game.
