GreenJackets blank Fireflies in series finale
Stephen Woods allowed one hit over five innings, leading the Augusta GreenJackets to a 6-0 win Sunday against the Columbia Fireflies at Spirit Communications Park.
Woods (6-7) picked up the win after he struck out six and walked three.
Augusta broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth when Shawon Dunston hit an RBI single, scoring Skyler Ewing.
Augusta scored in three additional innings to finish off the shutout, including a three-run eighth.
Chase Ingram (1-2) went 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs and two hits in the South Atlantic League game. He also struck out three and walked three.
The Fireflies were held scoreless for the eighth time this season, while the GreenJackets’ staff recorded its 10th shutout of the year.
Columbia begins a three-game series at Charleston on Monday night.
