Zanon, Gonzalez lead Fireflies to 3-0 victory
Jacob Zanon had three hits and scored two runs, and Harol Gonzalez allowed just two hits over six innings as the Columbia Fireflies topped the Charleston RiverDogs 3-0 on Wednesday at Spirit Communications Park.
Gonzalez (9-8) struck out five and walked three to pick up the win.
In the bottom of the second, Columbia grabbed the lead on a single by Jay Jabs that scored Zanon. The Fireflies then added single runs in the third and sixth innings. In the third, Zanon hit an RBI single, while Zanon scored on a wild pitch in the sixth.
Matt Blackham retired the side in order for his third save.
The Fireflies’ staff recorded its 15th shutout.
