Columbia Fireflies blanked for the 10th time this season
Hickory got the best of Columbia in the series opener at Spirit Communications Park on Thursday night. The Fireflies tallied just three hits and fell, 5-0.
Up 1-0 in the fifth, Hickory’s Blaine Prescott and Alex Kowalczyk hit RBI singles. The Crawdads later tacked on a run in the seventh and ninth innings. In the seventh, Charles Leblanc hit an RBI single, while Kowalczyk hit an RBI single in the ninth.
After nearly three months on the disabled list, Colin Holderman returned to the mound and went 4 1/3 innings, allowing three runs and five hits.
The Fireflies were blanked for the 10th time this season.
