Fireflies ride perfect Strom to victory over GreenJackets
Ian Strom hit a two-run double in the sixth inning, part of his big night at the plate, leading the Columbia Fireflies to a 5-2 win over the Augusta GreenJackets on Tuesday.
Strom went 3-for-3 with a triple and a walk in addition to his two-run double. Columbia’s left fielder scored twice and had three RBIs in the win.
The double by Strom, part of a three-run inning, tied the game 2-2 before Natanael Ramos hit an RBI single for what turned out to be the game-winning run.
The Fireflies tacked on two runs in the eighth when Strom hit an RBI triple and scored on a double by Ramos to secure the victory.
Columbia’s Matt Blackham struck Johneshwy Fargas out with runners on second and third for his fourth save.
