SC team advances to Little League World Series

South Carolina has a team in the Little League World Series for the first time since 1950.

The Northwood Little League team from Taylors defeated Mechanicsville (Va.) National 7-0 Thursday to win the Southeast Regional in Warner Robins, Ga.

Northwood’s Alex Edmondson hit two home runs and pitched a no-hitter in the win.

The Little League World Series begins Aug. 20 in South Williamsport, Pa.

The last S.C. team to reach the World Series was Clinton Little League in 1950. Charleston Little League accomplished it in 1949.
