How to watch Irmo All-Stars as they compete in Little League World Series
After arriving in Williamsport, Pennsylvania almost a week ago, the Irmo All-Stars are ready for their Little League World Series debut.
Irmo, the Southeast Region champions, play New England Region champ Braintree American at 3 p.m. Thursday at Lamade Stadium in a first-round matchup.
Irmo is the first team from South Carolina to make it to the LLWS since Taylors in 2015. Taylors went 1-2 in its appearance at Williamsport.
Where is the Southeast team from?
The team based in Irmo, South Carolina will appear in the bracket and on your TV screens as the Southeast squad. The Irmo community is located about 15 miles northwest of Columbia, the state’s capital city.
Irmo won the Southeast bracket by defeating defending Little League World Series champion Lake Mary (Florida) 5-4 in dramatic fashion, scoring five runs in the bottom of the sixth to win the game. Brady Westbrooks had the game-winning three-run double for the walk-off victory in the game played in Warner Robins, Georgia.
How to watch first LLWS game
ESPN and the ESPN app will carry all of the Little League World Series games. You can also stream the games on Fubo.
The United States and International championship games, plus the overall championship game, will be carried on ABC.
If Irmo wins on Thursday, it faces the Northwest/Mountain winner on Monday at 3 p.m. If Irmo loses, it faces the Southwest/Metro loser on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Little League World Series tournament format
There are 10 teams in the United States bracket and 10 teams in the International bracket.
Each bracket uses a double-elimination format until teams make it to the bracket championship games. The U.S. and International championships are single, winner-take all games, and so is the Little League World Series championship game.
The U.S. and International championship games will be played Aug. 23. The Little League World Series finals are Aug. 24.
