Fireflies fall to Charleston again in walk-off fashion
The Columbia Fireflies on Friday were dealt a second-straight 5-4, walk-off loss to drop to 0-2 in their inaugural season.
Charleston, which scored four runs in the ninth inning Thursday in a game-winning rally, needed one run in the ninth to cap off another win Friday night at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park.
Columbia scored two runs apiece in the first and ninth innings. Third baseman David Thompson and center fielder Ivan Wilson had two hits each in the loss.
The RiverDogs won an RBI single by right fielder Jhalan Jackson.
Columbia reliever Tyler Bashlor, who missed the last two seasons with an arm injury, pitched two scoreless innings and struck out five batters.
The third game in the four-game set is 6:05 p.m. Saturday.
