Rodriguez lifts Columbia in 10

J.C. Rodriguez tripled in the bottom of the 10th to score Vinny Siena as Columbia defeated Asheville 5-4 on Sunday at Spirit Communications Park.

Columbia (19-17) was trailing 3-1 heading into the bottom of the eighth, but scored two runs to tie the game. Asheville (17-17) notched a run in the top of the ninth to regain the lead, 4-3, but the Fireflies tied it in the bottom of the inning when Ivan Wilson walked with the bases loaded to score Rodriguez.

Alex Palsha (2-1) picked up the win, giving up two hits, one run and striking out three in two innings of relief. Starter Joe Shaw allowed four hits and three runs (one earned) in seven innings.

Alec Kennilvort (0-1) took the loss.
