Columbia’s Big Little Run 5K hosted by Big Brothers, Big Sisters on Dec. 12 had a healthy turnout of 72 finishers.
Blythewood’s William Beacham, 15, led the field to the finish in 18:12. Lexington’s Zach Demoya, 23, was second in 18:17, and third place went to Columbian Andrew Busbee, 15. His time was 19:40. Irmo’s Sara Bonner, 34, finished 10th overall as the first female finisher. Her time was 22:03. Gina Campbell, 34, finished as second female overall in 17th place in 24:29. Lindsay Joyner’s time as third female finisher was 25:15.
The West Columbia Arthritis Foundation hosted its Jingle Bell 5K on Dec. 5 and had 101 finishers. Jonathan Kinsey, 30, was first overall in 15:01. He led Columbian Ryan Plexico, 32, who finished second in 16:54. Long time coach and Masters runner, Columbian Mark Bedenbaugh, 53, was third overall in 18:12. The top three women finished in 9th, 10th, and 11th places. Mary Eandi, 39, ran 21:24. Kayla Millholland, 22, finished in 21:35. Marilyn Mosbrugger, 12, finished in 21:46.
On Dec. 12, 250 runners completed the Harborside Lights 5K. Columbian Orinthal Striggles finished with a speedy 16:23. Columbian Eddy Lopez, 23, was second in 16:33. Columbian Jordan Lybrand, 28, was third overall in 17:25. Shawanna White, 35, was first female in 17:53 and fifth overall finisher. Lexington’s Tammy Putt, 31, was second female, 11th overall in 19:26. Also from Lexington, Alexandra Niggeman, 14, was third female and 18th overall finisher in 20:54.
The same day, Lugoff’s Brett Morley, 23, led 193 runners to the Jingle Bell 5K finish line in Columbia in 15:26. Columbian Theo Kahler, 17, was second in 17:18. Camden’s Garrett Lawson, 15, was third in 18:35. Lugoff’s Heather Costello, 37, was first female and fourth overall in 19:09. Lexington’s Tammy Putt, 31, was second female and 7th overall in 19:39. Ridgeway’s Sharon Cole, 48, was third female finisher in 23:21.
