Trustus Theatre shakeup announced
There’s a shakeup in the management at Trustus Theatre.
Trustus’ Managing Director Larry Hembree is retiring Aug. 31, just three years after taking over the theater, which describes itself as a professional theater company.
Dewey Scott-Wiley, the company’s co-artistic director, also is leaving.
Chad Henderson will become the sole artistic director, as well as the interim managing director.
Hembree and Scott-Wiley took over the responsibilities of Trustus in 2012 from Jim and Kay Thigpen, who retired after 27 seasons.
A search is on for a new permanent director, said Trustus board Chairman Harrison Saunders. Hembree will continue in an emeritus position. Scott-Wiley will expand her teaching duties at USC-Aiken, where she is a full-time faculty member.
