DIY home decor shop to open in Forest Acres

AR Workshop will open a new location in Forest Park, near the Lowe’s grocery store in Forest Acres. Ashley Bonte and her husband Matt opened their first location in Lexington six months ago and plan to have the Forest Drive location open by mid-March.

The fast-growing franchise specializes in cutomized do-it-yourself home decor projects. Customers can go to the store or visit online to sign up for classes.

“We start with bare wood or cloth,” says Ashley Bonte. “The classes last 2-3 hours and you can bring some wine and snacks and some friends and have a completed project at the end of the class.”

Bonte says that all of the classes have instructors to walk you through the project, so it’s ideal for beginners who want a custom piece or for a group of friends who want to have a private decorating party.
