Atlanta Bread Co. closing Sunset Boulevard location

Atlanta Bread Co. will be closing its West Columbia location at 108 Sunset Ct. across from Lexington Medical Center in February.

In the spring, the location will become home to the second area Charleston-based East Bay Deli. East Bay opened its first area location at 1426 Main St. in Columbia’s The Hub apartment complex downton on Nov. 14.

Minor exterior work has already begun on the Sunset Boulevard property to prepare it for the transition.

The closing of the West Columbia branch of Atlanta Bread Co. marks the closing or pending closing of all three of the sandwich shop’s Midlands area locations.

The Irmo location at 1072 Lake Murray Blvd. closed in 2014. Urban Cookhouse opened in that location Dec. 6.

Atlanta Bread Co. at 1307 Main St. in downtown Columbia is scheduled to close in January.

That location will become the downtown location of Famous Toastery which will also open a location in Northeast Richland County on Sparkleberry Lane in mid-January.
