Elmwood Lizard's Thicket on schedule for reopening
Construction and renovation work at the Lizard's Thicket located at 818 Elmwood Ave. is moving forward right on schedule, according to a restaurant spokesperson, and is currently slated to reopen in mid-October.
"We don't have a specific date yet but we are right on schedule for a mid-October opening," said Sara Krisnow, community relations manager for Lizard’s Thicket.
Last week, Hood Construction began putting up new HardiePlank on the restaurant's exterior, poured new curbs and brought in dirt to build up the parking lot. This week, interior work includes framing new box beams and headers in the dining rooms and installing new door frames as well as duct work and electrical installations. The building is also receiving equipment updates that will make it more energy efficient.
A total of 40 percent of the location's business comes through its drive thru, according to Krisnow.
"Don't worry--the drive thru isn't going anywhere," Krisnow said. "It will be back and better than ever."
Employees of the location are ready to get back to their home on Elmwood, Krisnow said. All have been placed at the restaurant's other 14 locations during the renovations.
