Shop Around: Midlands’ Gold’s Gyms to change to MÜV Fitness
Members of the Midlands’ five Gold’s Gym locations will see a new sign and a new look in December.
The franchise owner of the local Gold’s Gyms — St. Andrews Fitness Corp. — has signed with Spokane, Wash.-based MÜV Fitness. The change will be official Dec. 1. St. Andrews Fitness Corp. will still operate as the local owner of the gyms, as it has for more than 30 years.
“Both current and new members can expect a more positive, results-oriented experience focused on their personal success,” said John H. Burriss Sr., president of St. Andrews Fitness Corp. “We will have a brighter, friendlier, family friendly atmosphere that we know our members will love. We will also be bringing new fitness programming to our locations, including MÜV’s successful weight-loss program.”
Current Gold’s Gym members will not have to sign a new contract because the agreements were made directly with St. Andrews Fitness Corp., according to Burriss.
In addition to transforming its five Columbia-area Gold’s Gyms to MÜV Fitness — in Lexington, Forest Acres, Irmo, Sandhills and at Killian Road — St. Andrews Fitness Corp. will be opening a new MÜV Fitness in Westside Plaza on Augusta Road in West Columbia.
The current five locations have more than 300 employees and a combined membership of more than 40,000.
