Smashing pumpkins makes for a great animal play day at Riverbanks Zoo

Riverbanks Zoo’s residents enjoyed a post-Halloween treat during the Zoo’s annual Pumpkin Smash on Saturday.

Mammals, reptiles, birds and fish were provided pumpkins of all shapes and sizes.

The pumpkin smash is a form of animal enrichment used daily at the zoo to encourage natural behaviors.
