Krispy Kreme is inviting its customers to celebrate the 80th birthday of its original glazed doughnuts by offering a dozen for 80-cents.

On Friday, customers can buy a dozen original glazed doughnuts for 80 cents if they buy another dozen at regular price.

“It’s remarkable that for 80 years, Krispy Kreme’s commitment to delivering world-class doughnuts the Krispy Kreme way – hot, fresh and now – has not changed,” said Jackie Woodward, of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.

Krispy Kreme is based in North Carolina. Vernon Rudolph founded the company on July 13, 1937, according to the company’s timeline. Rudolph sold the doughnuts to local grocery stores in Old Salem in Winston-Salem at the time.
