Drone video footage of the Amtrak train crash in Cayce
In the aftermath of the deadly Amtrak train crash in Cayce in the early morning hours Sunday, there was intense interest in the scene of the incident.
While law enforcement kept onlookers at bay, one area man used his drone to capture footage of the wreckage in Lexington County.
It offers a bird’s-eye view of the scene, giving a better idea of the magnitude of this powerful crash and the damage it caused.

The footage begins at the back of the Amtrak commuter train. It shows that the last three cars were relatively unscathed by the crash.
That isn’t the case for the next car, which was violently bent in half, jutting off the track while still relatively connected to the cars in front and to the rear of it.
The footage continues to move up the length of the train, partially obscured by a highway overpass. Most of the train cars appear to be in decent shape until the drone reaches the engine car at the front. That car was destroyed in the crash with the CSX freight train that was parked on the tracks.
The engine car of the idle CSX train was significantly damage by the violent crash.
