Columbia’s Walk For Life postponed in light of flood recovery
The Walk for Life, which raises money for breast cancer, will be rescheduled.
The event, one of the Midlands' largest annual walks, originally was set for Oct. 17. But Palmetto Health Foundation said in a news release it was important for law enforcement to focus their efforts on flood recovery, rather than diverting resources to managing traffic and walkers during the event.
The walk will be rescheduled for early 2016, the news release said.
Individual registration will remain open between now and the first of the year at WalkForLifeColumbia.org.
Team captains and individual walkers/runners are encouraged to pick up shirts and wear them to the S.C. State Fair for free admission Oct. 25.
Team packet pick-up day will be Monday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Palmetto Health Foundation, 1600 Marion St. Individual walkers and runners may pick up shirts on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Oct. 16 from8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Palmetto Health Foundation. Runners’ race bibs will be held at Palmetto Health Foundation until early 2016.
