A Charleston developer’s plans to bring nearly 300 apartment units and a shopping center to the Cardinal Newman School site on Forest Drive are set to go before Forest Acres’ planning board in January.

The Beach Co. is scheduled to present its plans for the roughly $60 million project at 6 p.m. on Jan. 5 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Forest Drive.

The developer in November first unveiled its plans for the site, called “Forest Acres Village Square,” to a crowd of about 100 Forest Acres residents, some who said The Beach Co.’s presentation won their approval and support.

The Beach Co. also developed CanalSide in downtown Columbia, which is undergoing its second expansion.

The Cardinal Newman site will be redeveloped after the school moves in January to a new campus in northeast Richland County.
