Thief makes getaway with Mercedes and $5,000 of jewelry from USC band and dance building
One woman found herself short a Mercedes and $5,000 in jewelry Friday afternoon in Columbia.
Police responded to the University of South Carolina band and dance building at about 1:45 p.m. Friday, according to a USC Police Department incident report.
The victim told police she had parked her car in front of the building at 10:45 a.m., and had put her keys on the desk in her office after parking. When she noticed the car missing, she checked the desk and found the keys missing as well, according to the incident report.
At the time of the theft, there were two platinum bracelets – worth $2,500 each – in the trunk of the car, the victim told police.
The responding officer tried to review video footage of the parking lot but was unsuccessful, according to the incident report.
