Two dead in house fire in Lexington County

Two people were killed in a house fire in Lexington County early Thursday morning.

The fire happened just after midnight at a home in the 200 block of Cedarcrest Drive, at the eastern edge of the town of Lexington, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze quickly after arriving on scene, Lexington County spokesman Harrison Cahill said. When they entered the home, they found two victims dead in the bedroom.

The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating, Cahill said.
