Pokemon Go meetups coming to a park near you
The City of Columbia Parks & Recreation Department will host several Pokémon Go meetups for trainers of all ages in August.
Events will be held at Riverfront Park, Woodland Park, Charles R. Drew Wellness Center green space and South East Park on four consecutive Fridays, primarily in the early evening.
The Parks & Recreation Department invites the public to visit the various parks to play as a group or individually. Players are encouraged to wear team colors as they can mix the real world through the world of Pokémon.
Pokemon Go is a new free app available on iOS and Android, where players must physically walk around to find Pokemon.
The game has become a craze since it was released. The Washington Post reported that Pokemon Go already has been downloaded more times than the dating app Tinder, and “is rapidly encroaching on Twitter.”
