Inmate killed at McCormick state prison
A state prisoner was killed by another inmate Friday night at one of the state’s high security prisons.
Reico Lamont Welch, 40, was serving time at McCormick Correctional Institution for burglary, grand larceny and criminal conspiracy, said Ashleigh Messervy, spokeswoman for the S.C. Department of Corrections.
The name of the inmate who is suspected of killing Welch has not been released by the agency. His killing is still under investigation.
