Man died, pet dog revived after mobile home fire in Gaston

The Lexington County coroner’s office identified the man whose body was found by firefighters Thursday night in a burning mobile home as 56-year-old Michael Henry of Gaston.

Lexington County firefighters responded to the mobile home fire on the 100 block of Renee Court in Gaston shortly before 9 p.m., Lexington County Spokesman Harrison Cahill said in a news release.

When they arrived on scene, smoke and flames were coming from the mobile home.

After they beat back some of the flames, firefighters entered the home where they found Henry and a dog. Both were unconscious. Paramedics were not able to revive Henry, Cahill said. The dog was resuscitated and turned over to family members.

An autopsy will be conducted on Saturday to determine Henry’s cause of death, coroner Margaret Fisher said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
